3D GAME CHARACTER - NIGHT WATCHER, ADULF
First game character model for my course based on Eunice Ye's concept art. This was a challenging task for me on many levels, from high res sculpting to retopology, to rigging and posing, to creating and placing hair and fur cards, and lastly trying to get the texturing of the materials too look fine. One of the major challenge was the fur, where I set up two set of cards - one dark and one light, so that I can manipulate the hair shader in Unreal Engine to give a hint of variation mainly to the colour of the dark fur. Then for fur cards placement, I created four sets of fur card clumps for the different length of fur, using the hair cards texture that I had created using Xgen. With the card clumps, I went about with the placement with reference to images of wolf that I had collected, to achieve a similar flow when placing the card clumps. I am pretty happy with the end result, since there were many first time experiences during the modeling process.
